Turn Guitar Hero Drums into an Electronic Drum Set [Music]
If you want to rock out without the expense or bulk of a full size drum set, you can hook a set of Guitar Hero drums up to your computer for an electronic jam session.
Andy Lunn wanted to play around with drumming, but he didn’t want to drop a huge amount of money on a full size or pricey electronic set. He decided to follow in the footsteps of some of the DIYers he found on YouTube and hook a Guitar Hero drum set up to his computer. Below is a sample of the Guitar Hero drums in action:
You can go about hooking up Guitar Hero drums to a computer in a variety of ways, but Andy opted to go with a Wii version so the set could operate wirelessly. He hooked it up to his Mac, used a piece of software—OSCulator—to link the midi-triggers from the set to GarageBand and he was in business.
